Not enough storage space?

Hi there,

I've just started working with a new virtual server, which is windows server 2008 SP1. I'm trying to install Windows Installer 4.5 to be able to install SQL Server after that, but I get this message "Not enough storage space available to process this command" when I run the installer for Windows Installer 4.5.

I've used the file WindowsServer2003-KB942288-v4-x64.exe which I downloaded from Microsoft.

Any ideas what's going on here and how to proceed? There enough free space on the system of course...

Dreamspark iso vs Technet iso - Windows Server 2016

An iso downloaded from Dreamspark can be used to install Windows Server 2016 in trial mode, I mean to use it for 6 mouths trial, without a key? Or for that the Technet Evaluation Centre iso is required?

MS access 2007 DB crashes running query on Windows 2008r2 Error event reports MSVCR80.dll as cause

HI all, not sure where I should be posting this question as I am not sure if it is a Window s2008r2 server error or Office 2007 / Access 2007 problem.

 

Every 4th or more time we run a query on our Database MS Access 2007 version that we have split between backend and front end.

It crashes, originally message it gave me was unable to write to memory, but now it says the following as per event log below Windows 20082r

We are running Win 2008r2 on a virtual drive.

I have reinstall office 2007 and it hasn’t made a difference.

Ran Scan SFC Nothing.

 

Happens no matter who logs into our server.

What is interesting, although I suspect down to different version of Office and Operating system, doesn’t happen if a client PC runs the Database query.

 

The more I search and read forum son this, the more confused I get, as I know from experience with MS flight sim, that a similar thing happens, and some hotfix or software someone put on fligthsim.com fixes that problem,. But this is not as easy.

 

Hopefully someone has some more suggestions I can try.

schannel - EventID 36888 - fatal alert 40 - error state (1205,1207, etc)

In response to the recent SSL 3.0 vulnerabilities, we have been locking down SSL settings on IIS servers.   As a result (not surprisingly) we are seeing more schannel errors in the event log. 

I understand that many of these are just "noise" and that schannel logging can be disabled via a registry setting, however we are wondering if the error codes will tell us which cypher they were attempting to use, so we can determine if our SSL settings are acceptable, or too restrictive. 

I found a reference that describes what the fatal alert codes mean  (i.e. 40 = TLS1_ALERT_HANDSHAKE_FAILURE) - but I cannot find a reference code for the internal error states (1203, 1205, 1207).  Can anyone point me towards such a reference?

Alternatively, here is a sampling of the schannel errors - do any of them indicate a SSL configuration problem on the server side?

Can 't change drive letter in win 10

I changed out my second hard drive previously volume G. I go to change it from E back to G and the virtual disk manager tells me the parameter is incorrect. What parameter? I just want to go back to G. Some searches won't work now.

Why some Hotfixes can't install on my windows Server?

Hello.

I downloaded some Hotfixes for Windows Server 2008 R2 but when I want to install it then got below error:

I exactly selected the properly Hotfix for my System. For example, the architecture and Windows version.

For Windows server 2008 R2 I downloaded "Windows6.1-KB2497787-x64" but got above error when wants to install it.

Any idea?

I updated my Windows Server 2008 R2 and it told me that all update installed successfully but Why when I download some Hotfixes and installed it manually all of them installed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Referred to this sight from the general windows forum

All of the sudden in event viewer I started receiving:

My system is running perfectly fine in all aspects

Limit concurrent logins on a WS 2008 environment

Hi all

I'd like to ask if there is any way you can limit concurrent logons on a WS2008 AD domain.
Thing is i want my users (1500+) to only be able to log in on one machine at a time.

I saw a program called LimitLogon.exe but i'm not going to use that because it is unsupported, it requires IIS, it's quite old and it requires a OU structure in AD. I also saw a program called UserLock but we cannot afford that here since we would have to buy too many licenses.

I was also wondering why this feature isn't in server 2008? It's a quite common problem in many different branches in which IT has been applied (my case, a hospital).

Any help on this?

(I don't mean concurrent logins on remote, i mean just be able to log onto one machine with their account at a time)

dfs and rights

guys,

in dfs, when i create a namingspace for homefolders, i need to manually remove every usergroup from the specific users homefoldershare . And i dont want that.

Is it somehow possible in dfs to create a homefolders map(in the namespace part) and when i create the folders for the users in the homefoldersmap, only the user to whom the folder belongs gets acces.

 I have a cd  and a generic key for Microsoft Word 2000 but when i place the key 25 characters in it says it invalid. We got the program with our first comp. with picture it publishing as a package.

the key we got is  WJTGT-2XGRM-BVK3C-DK2P8-GJWD6 , I was wondering if it has been changing or could we get another key

Want to uninstall a driver which causes to boot in Disable Driver Signature Enforcement mode.

Hi,

    Each time I have to boot in using  'Disable Driver Signature Enforcement' mode. I know which program is causing the error.

    But I'm unable to uninstall this program from control panel as it showing an error message during it's uninstallation procedure.

    How can I remove the program driver permanently from my system?

BSOD when changing VM memory online (hot-add)

One of the new features of Hyper-V in Server 2016 is the ability to increase (or even decrease) and otherwise perform memory management on a running VM.

However, BSOD happened twice on different machines for me.
Stop Code: Memory Management.

Guests are Server 2016.
VM is Gen 2.
VM Configuration version is 8.0.

Anyone else experienced similarly ?
Simply buggy and should be reported on ? (how ?, Where ?)

LBFO team mode and service dependency

All,

I found that SQL service couldn't start because team NIC was not up.

As I can see in the system log, NIC team was up with 1 minute delay after SQL service startup.

NETLOGON couldn't find domain controllers and SQL service couldn't start because SQL works under domain account.

Is there a way to do service dependency for NIC team ?

I can set up service recovery (already done for SQL) and delayed startup (it seems will not help), but..

As I can see there is MsLbfoProvider service.

SQL can be in dependecy from this service.

Is there any official guide for that ?
