Hi.
I've stumbled across one of the strangest issues I've ever seen in Windows Servers:
We've got a Windows 2008R2 server ( running over Hyper-V ) and Office 2013 plus, users connect to RDS. All was working well until some point in time a few weeks ago.
Office ( MAK activation ) would "become unactivated" from time to time ( interval of about 4 days ), my first measure was trying to reactivate using the MAK key. That didn't work.
Then I tryied to uninstall Office, tried the office removal tool. Then tried to install, but found out Windows Update was damaged. Then I fixed Windows Update Services and Re-installed Office 2013, then used MAK key activation. But something was wrong: Windows
was unable to reboot gracefully. Every time these problems start, I have to cold reboot.
All was well for a week, then I moved to KMS. And that's when I found out that there's something wrong with sppsvc, and not the activation itself, because a simple Reboot ( cold, because the service seem to freeze ) solves the problem for a few days.
When the problem starts to happen, the "Account" page in any Office application shows all blank info ( like an empty form ).
Whenever it happens, I simply cannot stop sppsvc, I run net stop sppsvc I get the result "Software PRotection Service Could not be stopped". Then I try to run net stop sppsvc again an the result is "Software PRotection Service
is being started or stopped. Please try again later".
I've checked Events, nothing specific.. ran sfc /scannow , ran chkdsk to no avail....
I've done my research extensively, but found absolutely nothing useful...
I'm not sure if it is related, but sometimes, a userinit.exe gets hung ( renders the user desktop black), and I have to cold
reboot the server too.
Thanks in advance!
