Hi,
How to check or differentiate the users created in MS CRM 2011 are using Device CAL/User CAL?
We have Server 2008 R2 Standard that runs Exchange 2010, Blackberry Enterprise Server and Backup Exec 2010 R3. When we reboot the Server, not all the services will start that are set to automatic. This is causing Exchange, Remote Desktop and other things not to work.
Did some searching and found that the SCM Database is locked. Running the command "sc querylock" shows IsLocked as TRUE.
This only seems to happen when a static IP address is set. When I change it to DHCP, all the services start normally. I set a DHCP reservation for the MAC address of the Server.
I tried applying the registry fix listed here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2004121 - with the "DependOnService" entry, but that did not resolve the issue.
Also, when we reboot - we are getting a unexpected shutdown message each time.
Any ideas?
Hello Everybody,
Recently my client handed me over a windows server 2003 with Service pack II x86 demo version installed.
He wants me to change the serial key, I tried following the Microsoft document which involoved the changes a bit in registry which did not help at all.
Also whe I tried modifying the wpa.* file from windows system32 it recreartes the file when you hit %systemroot%\system32\oobe\msoobe.exe /a.
Request you to help me out and resolve this issue.
Waiting for your kind reply.
Regards, Amit Khamkar.
Greetings. I'm in need of a little direction.
I would like to convert my physical Server 2008 R2 machine to a HyperV box. This machine has AD, DNS, WDS, and FSMO on it.
How would I go about doing this with roles intact?
Thanks!

Hi Guys
Have a windows 2008 R2 SP1 Standard server that was reporting Non Genuine version.
A college of mine tried a few fixes and was unable to fix this include a repair of the server.
I was able to remove the message by just uninstall Sophos Anti-virus. I have had a similar problem with Bit Defender.
Unfortunally the system now has other problem.
Unable to do windows update.
Event log service will not start Access Denied
Software protect service will not start access denied.
Opening MMC or other windows app reports Publisher unknown.
I have run sfc /scannow as well as reimporting catroot2 and cat root folder. I also used process monitor to locate event log folder causing with Access denied and change the writes to this folder. Unable to start event log or Software protect.
If anyone has any other idea on how to fix this I would like to hear.
Thanks
Craig
See link for Catroot resolution and Process monitor task.

· Hi Tech Guyz
I've created a shared folder on Server 2008 R2 name Samir h drive, the share name of that folder is hdrive. It was working fine but now its become hidden and i'm unable to unhide it on the server 2008 as the hidden option is grayed out so i cant change it, but i still have access to the shared folder (hdrive) from the client computer. Could you please advise me what i need to do to unhide the folder on the server. I've also tried attrib command but no luck.
Many thanks

hello all I am running out of disk space on my c drive, I have a second drive that has plenty of space that I would like to give to my c drive I can also install another drive if need be. I been reading the post on this u mean after all this time windows has not come up with a decent disk management a real disk management tool, I am reading post about using diskpart, really I must have missed something there must be a windows server tool out there that I am missing? I have space to give it but no option to attach it to c and there is no space in front of c. I can take away from my d drive which has nothing on there or add another drive. but I do not see option to give it to c drive.
Help Please,
I work for a school that has 3 seperate buildings. At one building, I have 50+ netbooks running Windows 7 that all get a BSOD error when attempting to log in. I get the message when both wireless and hard wired.
This is the message:
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
STOP: 0X000000OA
I have tried to following fixes:
1. Updating NIC Drivers and also rolling back drivers
2. Updating every driver I could think of
3. Installing all Windows Updates
4. Selecting "Last Known Good Configuration"
5. Re-imaging from the original image they were made with.
6. Clean install of just Windows 7
NONE worked!!!! Note: These computers also work fine in both of the other buildings and have worked fine for the past 2 years in this building. Also, the previous tech manager had the same problem with 50+ netbooks at a different building last year. After 6 months of them being down he said oh I fixed the problem but never told anyone what he did. He has since left on bad terms and left nothing about what he did for 3 years.
So... After trying all of those fixes and based on what I believe would make sense. I have determined the cause has to be from a network or server issue. Problem is I have no idea where to look. Something had to have been changed over the summer that caused this problem.
Could this problem be caused by our Wireless Lan Controller?(I don't think so because they don't work when wired either) Could I be having an IP conflict issue? What setting could cause a BSOD in a Windows Server 2008 R2 environment. I really have no idea where to begin. I am completely new in the field with no formal training, just quick learning and a grasp on the technical side of things. So please elaborate as best you can.
Laptop running windows 7 Enterprise x64 SP1.
Files on server (running Windows 2003 Standard X64) were accessible before system suspended / hibernated. After resume, get path not found error from explorer or when trying to save open files from application.
PING resolves the servername Ok and replies in 4 miliseconds.
Remote desktop can resolve servername and connect to the server OK..
Explore can access the shares and files on the server using the server's IP address but not using its name.
Reboot always resolves the issue.
I feel certain this must be a well known issue but can't find the answer.
thanks
john
Does any use, or know of any domain controller best practice setup checklists?
I want to put together a list really for my own benefit - something that I can keep on file and refer back to from time to time.
I'm particularly interested in any 'notes from the field' dc checklists also.
Important things to do or consider such as:
Partition sizes – C: drive and D: drive
Drive configurations – C: drive o/s, D: drive data
Exchange database location
Hi every body
I want hide Private IP address in my network...
means that when type IPCONFIG command in every client, does not show the Private IP Address for this client or when type PING "ComputerName" does not show the Private IP Address for that Client.
Any Group Policy or Script ????
tnx for your help, my friends.
I received a PowerEdge T310 Dell with a RAID 1 setup. Dell already prepared the HD and no OS. I installed SBS 2011 on it just to find out I cant't do a BMR. I'm finding out it's because of Dell's FAT32 partition. I cannot reinstall the OS because it's now in production. Is there a clean way to delete the Dell 39MB OEM partition, the 2GB OS partition and just leave the C: partition that the SBS 2011 is installed on. I know it won't boot so what is the answer to solve my problem?
Thanks!
Below is the layout:
Hi,
I'm having issues hiding folders from people using access based enumeration
We have a drive on our file server (F:) with a folder that's shared to certain security groups.
The folder only has these certain groups in the security tab, the folder doesn't inherit permissions from the folder above and it hands out permissions to child objects.
The file share doesn't have permission to Everyone, just the same security groups
This was set up via Share and Storage management, were using Server 2008 R2
For some reason people who aren't in these security groups can still see the file share when the go to \\servername although they can't access it they can still see it. Should this not be hidden with ABE enabled?
Cheers

We have 3 Domain Controllers in different geographical locations linked via a VPN Tunnel.
One is the Primary Domain Controller and the others get the following error. One in particular gets this every 30 minutes (approx)
The servers are all Windows Server 2003.
The name "DOMAIN NAME :1d" could not be registered on the Interface with IP address 192.168.100.250.
The machine with the IP address 192.168.0.1 did not allow the name to be claimed by this machine.
and occasionally
The name "DOMAIN NAME :1d" could not be registered on the Interface with IP address 192.168.100.250.
The machine with the IP address 192.168.1.1 did not allow the name to be claimed by this machine.
The ipconfig /all readings for each server are as follows;
Server 1 - PDC
Windows IP ConfigurationServer 2
Windows IP ConfigurationServer 3
Windows IP ConfigurationThis error occurs all the time on 192.168.100.250 and occasionally on 192.168.1.1.
Any help would be much appreciated.
I will be dcpromo'ing these servers out in the near future and was hoping to resolve this error first, unsure if this is going to cause issues.
Thanks in advance.
