setup of trust relationship between 2 domains
Hello, we have 2 domains each in their own location. There is a VPN connecting between both sites each domain with their own firewall, DNS and DHCP services. We would like to create a one-way trust relationship from Site A to Site B. After some research
there are discrepancies in the steps required to create a trust relationship that we found. Does anyone have the correct steps required to create a trust relationship? Thank you

PowerShell - can't type into non-elevated consoles
An odd one that just started occurring to me yesterday - I have a host where when I launch a new non-elevated PowerShell window, I get a command prompt, but it does not accept keyboard input anymore. Elevated PowerShell windows work just fine, but non-elevated do not accept keyboard input.
Has anyone seen this before? Any idea of how to rectify? I've tried logging out and back in, but that doesn't change anything. I don't see any unusual errors in the event log, so I'm at a loss as to why this is happening. My next step is to reboot, but before I do that I'd like to understand what is causing the issue.

Services timeout causing server to hang
HI All,
i have a unique issue with my windwos 2008 r2 server getting hung intermittently and only way to bring it alive is by rebooting.before reboot the event logs show service timeouts.Earlier the value was 30000 and as per one of the fixes from MS we increased the value to 60000 but still it is showing the same.
Due to this hung issue,the sQL SERVICES runing on the server also stop responding i.e any SQL data uploads hung up alownith RDP..Is there any other fix available .is there any timeout vaule recommended.
This is an example timeout events :
A timeout (60000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the NlaSvc service.

Do you know, how to find out the time & date in event viewer??

Can't patch Sigred DNS flaw on 2008 not R2
I’m trying to install the security update to patch the Sigred DNS vulnerability on our last Server 2008 x86. It’s being phased out soon but wanted to patch it regardless.
When I try to install KB4565529-x86 it says, “The Windows Modules Installer must be updated before you can install this package" so I attempted to update the Servicing Stack for 2008 (not R2) which leads me to KB955430-x86 but that also errors out saying that “This update does not apply to your system”.
How can I get this patch installed? I’ve already created the script below to put the temp fix in place but want to make sure the patch gets installed as well.

Using TLS certificate with Windows 2008 SMTP virtual server

I am trying to configure the SMTP engine in Windows Server 2008 to use a TLS certificate.
When I right click the SMTP Virtual server --> Properties --> Access Tab. In the secure communications section it says "TLS is not available without a certificate". There is no certificate button to add one.
I did some Googling and read that if you use the MMC certificate snapin to manually add a certificate to the Local Machine\Personal store that it will be detected by IIS and this certificate will show up in the SMTP virtaul server properties. Unfortunately this doesn't seem to have happened. I added the certificate via the MMC and then did, IISReset.
No certificate.
I then tried rebooting the server, still no certificate.
Anyone have any ideas how to add this certificate to allow outbound TLS SMTP communciation in Windows server 2008?

Time sync won't change from NT5DS

I'm struggling with an issue on our PDC. I'm trying to get it to sync to an external source but it's not happening.
I've run all the usual commands such as w32tm /config /manualpeerlist:some.timeserver.net /syncfromflags:MANUAL /reliable:YES /update
I've also tried everything on this page here but still no luck.
Everything is saying it should be using NTP but when I run w32tm /query /configuration I get the following:

Replacing those servers and transferring them to Disaster Recovery what are my license options?

Custom ISOs with integrated updates
Hi folks!
I managed to add the June Cumulative (Rollup) update to a Windows Server 2012R2 ISO with
dism /Add-Package
This apparently worked since, in an installed System,
dism /Get-Packages
lists that update. However, when I run Windows Update now, still over 1G of updates are fetched and installed, and the one already integrated is listed as "superseded". How can I make the integrated update be *really* installed?
