Wireless clients are not auto-connecting (RADIUS Server)

We're using OneLogin as our Radius Server. After initially connecting with credentials (and checking "connect automatically" box), clients still do not automatically connect - users have to select SSID and hit connect (credentials no longer required) and the following pops up everytime...

"continue connecting? if you expect to find [ssid-name] in this location, go ahead and connect. otherwise, it may be a different network with the same name".

Trusted Root Certification Authorities: COMODO RSA Certification Authority and GEO Trust Global CA

We've pushed out the certs via GPO Is the problem on the client side? A problem with the certificates? Radius server?

I've tried scouring the interwebs for an answer, but the answers are all over the place.

I would like to remote reboot domain PC, now I use bat + powershell script, I do not want to use for that domain admin but local user with admin privileges so my bat file: PowerShell -NoProfile -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted -Command"& {Start-Process PowerShell -ArgumentList '-NoProfile -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted -File ""d:\public\Reboot Computer\Reboot.ps1""' -Verb RunAs}";
and powershell Reboot.ps1: Restart-Computer -ComputerName (Read-Host "ComputerName") -Credential (Get-Credential) -Force

I run .bat as administrator, then enter copmputer name: comp002, as credentials I use local user which is in administrators group comp002\admuser script is executed but computer is not rebooting. Maybe the problem is related to windows firewall?

Upgrade RADIUS server

We have a server running on Windows server 2008 R2 VM that is acting as both our RADIUS and DHCP server. How difficult would it be to just do an in-place upgrade to server 2012 R2? Or would we be better off just standing up a new server?

Fine-Grained Password Policies

We have always just had our password policy set in the the Default Domain GPO but recently we have decided that we needed to setup different policies for admin users and standard users. I have setup these policies via ADAC and applied them to the correct groups. As a test I have changed the password of one of the admin accounts but when I run the command, net user admin /domain. it appears to still be getting the old policy which has been completely removed the GPO. How long does it typically take for these policies to take effect?

Windows 2008 R2 Extended Support Activation

Our company purchased ESU for the few remaining 2008 2008R2 servers we haven't migrated yet.  In our environment we have the servers locked down to limited internet access.

I can setup VAMT, but I think it might be easier to simply open up the URLS for the servers to activate the keys directly against Microsoft, but I don't know the URL's to activate against.

Can someone provide me with the activation sites used by the MAK ESU keys?  I can't seem to find the URLs in any documents.

Does the ESU keys use the same keys as other MAK activations?  i found these:

Windows update says system is up to date but it is not

$

I maintain several Windows 2016 servers. They all started out the same, but for some reason the Domain Controller keeps saying it is up to date when the others are getting updates.

One of the machines that has been updated shows

Windows Server 2016 Standard Version 1607 (build 14393.3504)

The problem machine shows

Windows Server 2016 Standard Version 1607 (build 14393.3300)

I looked at the update history and downloaded the cumulative update from the MS server and tried to apply it manually, but it said that it was not applicable to that machine.

I ran Belarc against and it said there were two critical updates for the machine. I downloaded the first of those, and again got the same message that it was not applicable.

How can I get this server back on track with updates?

Schannel Event ID 36887 Fatal Error 48 - Microsoft please help!

I am having the following issue on a SBS2011 server (2008R2 | DC | Exchange | Sharepoint disabled) and at another site on a 2008R2 standard server (DC). The SBS2011 has been driving me nuts for months (kicking 4 per minute) and everything I've tried from these forums has not worked. The 2008R2 server just started kicking the events - 2 identical errors every 15 seconds (8 per minute). I have seen posts for Server 2012 on this very issue as well.

ON BOTH SERVERS: I have verified the certificates (CA and 3rd party), IIS7 is running fine, checked the site bindings - ok, revoked and removed expired certificates - all cleaned up. Reset the machine password (NETDOM - OK).

ON THE SBS2011 SERVER I have additionally: Checked the certificates in Exchange/Hub Transports and along the way cleaned up a few other issues... all running clean now, except the 36887(48) errors.

This one needs to go away! Changing the event logging is not a solution to the problem. That is covering your eyes to it.

What is the root cause of the alert? and how do we fix it? Someone at Microsoft knows the answer here and there are a ton of us asking the same questions...

Please we need Microsoft to own this and kick down a KB/Windows Update fix for more detailed event tracking and come up with a solution to the problem. I know that it is a TLS/SSL issue, some posts say it is an exchange issue and some say it is caused by iPhones in particular connecting to my exchange server... if that was the case then why do they keep kicking every 15 seconds? I would be very surprised if the three iPhones, 3 iPads, and one android device pinging my exchange server were doing it every 15 seconds like clockwork. It is not the phones and tablets.

Also, why then am I seeing the same exact issue on a Windows Server 2008R2 with NO exchange server installed...???

Thank you in advance for any help in resolving this issue. Event logs from both machines below =>

Chris

Windows Sever 2008 R2 Standard - Print Manager Intermittent Issues

$

Hello! I work for a University and we have been having random/intermittent issues with our printers in our computer labs. Ever since we updated our clients to Windows 10 (multiple versions) we have had intermittent issues where the printers from the print server wont appear installed. You can log out and in and it may or may not appear. This happens on temp profiles as well as admin profiles and in all labs with different model HP printers. I have not been able to find a specific error or event to explain the issue. All are on group policy, however we did take one off group policy but still through the print server and that did not fix the issue. We have been dealing with this for a while and I have run out of ideas. Could it be a compatibility issue between 2008 and Win10? Should I consider upgrading our print server?

Thanks!

Matthew

How do I get rid of second 169.254.x.x IPv4 address on Windows Server 2008 SP2 x86?

I'm sure this is an obvious one but can't figure it out.

I have a Winserver 2008 Sp2 (x86) DC with a static IP address allocated to its only NIC.  It seems to have acquired a second 169.254.x.x address automatically which I can't get rid of and which intermittently causes DNS problems (and possibly other) problems.

ipconfig results are shown below:

Getting the above error when trying to edit the owner of a newly created folder on a data drive (not on the C drive).

Was working fine last week. The only changes I've made were doing Windows Updates for the past year or so (it was way out of date).

Question: IRQ and how it works

$

0

Hello folks,

I am following an advice from someone that told me to get better, learn how the system works. Therefore, here is my question: How does IRQ works?

From what I understand - it is only assumptions, IRQ are interruption to the CPU coming from one of the connected components. Each one have different levels of interruption, therefore they are treated differently when they happens. Software interrupt are lower priority than hardware. Each components have a direct channel with the CPU in case they need to throw an interruption.

As I understand, the ICH and MCH does act has messenger to the CPU.

Now, why they are throwing interruption could be because they receive data or others. The error rising from an interruption can come from corrupt pointers(?) .

This is assumption and I am trying to make sure I understand this part properly instead of guessing how it really do.
