Number of Copies not shown in Windows Event Printer Logs...

Sir,

We have two network printers in our Network for taking print outs by our domain users.

 

Printers are,

 

Laserjet 4515x and Laserjet 9050.

 

Our Problem is, When the users give multiple copies printout, the log generated by Winevent shows only one copy.

 

For example:
When an user gives three copies of his 20 page Job
In  Logs it should displays as 60 (ie. 20x3 = 60).  It is Ok.


But our Logs shown  as 20/20 (i.e. 20x1 = 20)

 

We are using Winodws Server 2008 R2 Server(Domain Controller). What we have to do to solve this issue?

Trying to understand Robocopy

Hi,

I'm trying to understand how Robocopy works. We are doing nightly copies of a bunch large folders using the using the /MIR switch. We often get a bunch of "Error 2 - the system cannot find the specified file".

When I look at these files, these are all SOURCE files that no longer exists, most likely deleted. So my question is why would ROBOCOPY try to copy a file that no longer exists? At what point does is "think" that there is a file there? If the file doesn't exist it shouldn't know about it to begin with. Can someone explain the logic behind robocopy and the /MIR switch?

DNS records not scavenging & confirmation box empty

Client: integrated AD setup with virtual DC and physical BDC. DC runs DNS and the BDC runs DHCP (not my configuration, inherited)

Complaint: Scavenging seems to be failing- records much older than the limit of 7 days remain including for deprecated servers and workstations.

Attempt to force scavenging does not work either. In face when I attempt to set it this happens:

I set the default 7 and 7 day settings:

BUT when I click OK... this happens:

Setting don't show at all. As this is an inherited setup (and I have zero documentation on how DNS was configured) I'm at a loss to figure this one out.  Any takers out there?

WHS11 Launchpad.exe won't run after 1/5/19 windows 10 pro update.

Microsoft stopped support of Windows Home Server 11 but it continued to function until last night.   Took an update to Windows 10 Professional on 1/5/19 and after that update the Launchpad program will not run.    Without Launchpad, connection to the server is limited.

When Launchpad.exe is double clicked in its folder, it will show in Task Manager for a second or two then disappear.

I renamed Launchpad to Launchpd.exe and then it runs and performs as normal.

I believe the offending update is KB4023057, but I am not sure. 

Why did Microsoft specifically block the execution of LAUNCHPAD.EXE?

Question regarding folder permission

Hi,

I have Windows 2008 R2 domain and Windows 2008 R2 file server. I have shared folders for each department. Each department folder has their own sub folders with different permissions for different folders. 

We first had a problem that the HR manager security group did not have "modify" permission to all sub folders under HR department folder except one folder, though they has "modify" permission at HR folder level. It seems all sub folders in HR department folder do not inherit the permissions from the parent folder.

Then I made a mistake. At the HR department folder level, I selected "Replace all child object permissions with inheritable permissions from this object", then I wiped all permissions for all sub folders.

I have a few questions below.

1. What is the right way to change all folder's permission under HR folder to let HR manager group to have Modify permission? There are too many sub folders and it is impossible to make the change in each folder one by one.

2. How to restore the permission that I have wiped out for all sub folders?

3. Is there a tool out there that I can back up permission and restore permission quickly if the permission is messed up like this?

Need help!

Multiple "Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows Server 2008 for x64-based Systems" updates failing due to MsSpellCheckingFacility.exe file not found

Can anyone help me resolve these failing updates please? NB The server is running IE10, similar servers built from the same template running IE9 have updated without any problems.

Every monthly "Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows Server 2008 for x64-based Systems" fails with the same error:

Specifically "2018-10 Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows Server 2008 R2 for x64-based Systems (KB4462923)"

Have run the Windows Update Troubleshooter (http://aka.ms/diag_wu/)
Did not fix.

Have run System Update Readiness tool (https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/947821/fix-windows-update-errors-by-using-the-dism-or-system-update-readiness)
Did not fix.

Have downloaded the update package from Microsoft Update Catalog, and install the update package manually.
Did not fix.

ADMT Module has stopped working

Hello,

we are using ADMT 3.2 on windows server 2012 r2 and we have migrated users and groups and most of the computers however suddenly we have go the below error, we couldnt be able to perform the migration in bulk, i have checked with one computer 2 computers seems to be okay.

can anyone assist what would be the issue.

Administrator security privilege removed by mistake

I remove security privilege the administrator group from a folder and now only system group only has the access. I need to give back this privilege. Let me know if how.

While I am troubleshooting the Q$ drive, which is showing a vulnerability that the administrator has access to read and write. So removed privilege for administrator group and checked, but now I can't put it back because <g class="gr_ gr_7 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Grammar only-ins replaceWithoutSep" data-gr-id="7" id="7">only</g> system has access to that folder.

Hi

I have certificate authority ( Root + issuer + subordinate server) based on win server 2008

i will upgrade the certificate authority server 2008 to 2016 , Then i have to migrate sha1 to sha2

i need the steps to do that please.

Exchange 2013 Client Configuration Issue

I am looking for some advice regarding an issue at work.
 
I have Exchange 2013

  
 domain name: test.abc.com

We use an Exchange 2013 server located in inhouse data center

Exchange 2013 is configured for Outlook Anywhere.

My Local Lan Domain use mail is working fine...and External Workgroup user mail is also working...But when External User is come in Local Lan than mail is not working...

So please suggest how to resolve the Local Lan Workgroup user DNS issue in firewall....

What type of license to buy if HW was never licensed with OEM Windows Server license

Hi,

I have a question what type of license I should go if I have a very old server (from Sun vendor) and the server was never licensed with any kind of Microsoft products and I would like to run there Windows Server 2019 Essentials. Is that possible? I was looking on the web and probably OLP is a way to license the server? But mostly I can see the OLP NL which means I need to buy at least 5 licenses, right? But I need only one license for a very small company which wants to run there SQL Express together with Accounting software, and I can't find any store selling Windows Server 2019 as FPP. The company has no agreement with local MS reseller and won't ever have, they want just one-time purchase without any SA or agreements.

Windows 2008 R2 Windows Update Error Code 80073712

I am running a Windows 2008 R2 for a company with around 200 log ons.  I was going to add a feature through the Server Manager, but the "Add feature" button is disabled. Also, I went to 'Windows Update' and when I try to update it gives me the Code 80073712 error.

I read almost every possible guide and walk-through to handle this and nothing worked.

If anyone manages to find his way pretty good with Microsoft Windows 2008 R2, please let me know what I should do to fix this.

Program fails to run on Windows Server 2008

I just fired up a backup server to recover old backup data. The OS is Windows Server 2008 standalone. I updated the OS to the latest fixpacks and restored the files needed. I want to erase the files as they are highly proprietary. I installed Eraser and tried to run an erase on deleted files. It runs on other servers without problems. In this case I get popup below. Any guidance on how to interpret this popup will be greatly appreciated.

Hyper-V Server 2019: No Remote Desktop No SSH for 4 months now

Hyper-V 2019 is a dumpster fire and with the remote administration tools SSH, RDP broken possibly the worst server release from Microsoft.

Remote Desktop doesn't work at all. This issue is well known and has been there since the release.

SSH Server won't install.

Without SSH and without RDP how am I supposed to remotely administer the server?

The download link is missing and people have been asking about it since December. No answers.

When will RDP be fixed?
When will SSH be fixed?
When will the download be fixed?

Is there even a Hyper-V Server 2019 anymore?

DHCP server check

We use Windows Server 2012 R2 for DHCP server.

We see 97% or around that much percentage used all the time.

But the actual leased machines are shown in leased windows for upto 70 only. Whenever we see around 70, the pool gets full. We have a pool of 225 addresses.

Please let me know how do we actually see how many addresses are leased and how many is remaining.
