Group Policy Object

Hello,

I have created a policy where i want to give read only access to all the usb and mobile device, when they connect to workstation on client machine. i have created a group policy and apply all the respective setting. but i am able to copy the files from mobile my local workstation but not vice-versa. i mean i am not able to copy from local work station to mobile but mobile to local workstation is working. i want to block this so that user have only read access permission for usb and mobile device when they connect to local workstation. i have created the group policy properly.

Server- Windows 2008r2

Client - Windows 10



can you please suggest me the option.

Event error 265/257/258 on new 2012 R2 DC

I recently upgraded on of my 2003 DC to 2012 R2. When I run the dcdiag I fail the systemlog test with the following error.

I was unable to find much info on this error other than something related to expanding the volume. This is a VM and the server OS was installed from an error free image using WDS. I have not added any disk space and it is provisioned with 40 GB with 10 GB free.  Thoughts?

VAMT access is denied when trying to activate online

I am setting up a volume activation server and I followed the process adding my KMS host key and activating online without a problem. I then noticed a typo in the display name that I had given the host key as part of the install process and because I am a bit OCD I could not leave it alone so I went in and deleted it so I could add it back in without the typo. Now when I put the same KMS host key in and click commit to activate online I get a prompt that states 'access is denied'. What has gone wrong? I have restarted the server but still no joy.

Issues with ADAC after installing December 2016 Security Monthly Rollup

After Installing either KB3205401 or KB3205400 on Windows Server 2012 R2 systems, we began seeing issues with the Active Directory Administrative Center (ADAC). Specifically, modifying any of the default properties of an object in AD (e.g. Description, CN, DisplayName) causes ADAC to crash with the following error:


"Active Directory Administrative Center must close due to an unknown error."


Uninstalling the update appears to be the only fix.


At this point we're assuming this is an issue with one of the updates in the December 2016 Rollup, but we're wondering if others are encountering this issue.

Server 2008 R2 Monthly Rollups

Anyone else have problems installing the Security Monthly Quality Rollups on Server 2008 R2.  We have not been able to install the December or January Rollups but all other updates install with no problem including the associated security update that is released the same time as the Rollup.  I have tried a few suggestions mentioned in other posts with out success.  Any ideas or suggestions welcome.

What is "Empty Working Sets" in "RamMap"?

Hello.

Windows Server 2008 R2 has a serious problem that can't be solved. It is RPCSS usage. When my RPCSS usage is high, I open "RamMap" and when I click on "Empty Working Sets" then problem solved, What is my Windows problem? I updated it and install all hotfixes too but...How can I doing "Empty Working Sets" automatically every hours?

Running out of TCP ports according to Windows Eventlog but only 479 active TCP connections?!

I've recently started experiencing problems with my web server on Windows Server 2016.
It fails to setup new TCP connections.

Symptoms are:

  • The applications that run on the system report errors such as: An operation on a socket could not be performed because the system lacked sufficient buffer space or because a queue was full 127.0.0.1:3306
  • Web Browser fails to load any website

In the windows event log I see errors like:

Event ID 4227: TCP/IP failed to establish an outgoing connection because the selected local endpoint was recently used to connect to the same remote endpoint. This error typically occurs when outgoing connections are opened and closed at a high rate, causing all available local ports to be used and forcing TCP/IP to reuse a local port for an outgoing connection. To minimize the risk of data corruption, the TCP/IP standard requires a minimum time period to elapse between successive connections from a given local endpoint to a given remote endpoint.

Event ID 4231: A request to allocate an ephemeral port number from the global TCP port space has failed due to all such ports being in use.

Shutting down applications doesn't help, the only fix is to restart the OS.
I've ran netstat -ao and counted the active TCP connections, which counted 479 active TCP connections (344 in listening and 131 in established)

I've already adjusted the registry setting: MaxUserPort to 65534 in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters

However the issue keeps returning. I'm lost as to what could be the cause of this problem or how to resolve it.

Windows Server 2016 - Cannot connect PC to Domain

I have Windows Server 2016 on my domain controller and Windows 7 Ultimate on my PC. I have set up a domain on Windows Server and whenever I try to connect my PC to the domain, it just cannot find it.

I tried pinging my domain using the domain controller and it does ping the domain. The domain controller is hooked up to the network via Ethernet and the router's IP address is 192.168.2.1. The IPv4 address showing in the server manager is 10.0.2.15 for the AD DS, DNS and DHCP. Manageability says online for all of these as well.

The Windows 7 PC has IPv6 disabled and IPv4 is set so that the first option is selected as "Obtain an IP address automatically" and the section underneath is set to "Use the following DNS server addresses" and the address in there is 192.168.2.1.

The PC is wireless and when I put in the domain "cidro.ca" (without quotes) in the domain field and click "OK", I get an error message saying that an AD DC could not be contacted.

This is my very first time setting up a domain, so I don't know too much about what the issue is. The Internet is working for both the domain controller and the Windows 7 PC.

I'm really out of ideas.

unable to access the network when the primary DNS is down in AD environment windows server 2012

i got AD environment and i got 2 DCs windows 2012 servers, when the primary DC is down then i can access any other pc and unable to run nslookup, i think there should be time out to go to the secondary DNS but this is not happening, when i make the secondary DNS as primary then everything is working fine. how can i fix it? is there a timeout to set for checking for the primary server??

i am using static IPs and both DNSs are set in the lan setting

Hello.

I give quotas to a folder and I like to change it but if the folder is full then what happened? For example, A folder has a quotas about 400GB and it is full and I like change it to 100GB but must I empty folder first?

Windows Server 2008 WEB will not allow KB3080079 to run and it is required to disable TLS 1.0.  When I disable TLS 1.0 and enable TLS 1.2, it not only breaks RDP, but it also prevents access to my website (built on C#).

How am I supposed to meet PCI compliance if Microsoft's update to fix this will not run on my licensed and PAID FOR product?

I should not have to pay $500 for support for a problem I did not create.

I would like someone from Microsoft Tech Support to reply here as in my opinion this is ridiculous.

Hi All,

My server currently facing high disk usage due to user profile folder increasing suddenly since November 2016.

Based on our checking we found there is a file with naming NTUser.dat *.regtrans-ms & *TM.blf will created every day on users folders. It seems this issue related on event ID 1530.

It is our registry on this server has been corrupted? How to fix if the registry corrupted. FYI our server running on Windows Server 2008 R2.

transient waiting for profile service 15+minutes ?

Background, recently updated all servers to 2012r2. Our users login to horizon vdi, our parent image for this is server 2012r2. Their roaming profiles come from a new 2012r2 file server, but occasionally in the morning I get random users that it takes 10-15 minutes to get past 'waiting for profile service'.  Now its almost never the same user, and being vdi its should be a different machine each time, that said until they get past it I can't tell what machine they get to see the events.

Any thoughts on where to begin?
